Closing Up The A-Frame
Oh Winter. I'm trying to convince myself that the fact that the A-Frame is a summer place and cannot possibly be lived in in the winter is a good thing, that it will make me love the A-Frame even more than I do, that when spring comes around I will feel something I couldn't feel if it were a year-round place. It's not working. Sigh.
Matthew and I recently went to NH to close the place up for the season. That really only entails taking the screens out of the porch and making sure everything is unplugged, things my father could have easily done. But since we are people who love annual rituals and traditions and will drive to the A-Frame at a moments notice just to deliver a lamp, we took the opportunity to have a nice day in NH and get acquainted with what will now be a yearly thing we do. Unfortunately, we are not doing what my grandparents did every winter: escape to Barbados for the whole thing. Double sigh.
This is the walk from my father's house to ours
Matthew in snow: a rare sight
Where you can find Matthew next summer
The kitchen layout for now
My dad surprised us with lots of finishing touch work
I like our funky roof line
Goodbye bedroom I want to wake up in
My grandfather built easily removed screens, thank god
Snow snow snow
What's that?
We have these burn piles everywhere
View out our front porch
A-Framed!
